Sharing student work
Sorry guys-with the rules that my district has about sharing student work and the fact that I need my job (LOL) I will NOT be sharing the work of my students-I also do not feel comfortable getting permission from a child and not a parent for posting their work online-if I had parent permission I may feel a bit better about the situation. I will tell you that the students really gained knowledge from the inquiry because they experienced science in a way that made it easy to understand, and easy to do because it was guided. They all got to the answer I wanted them to get to, and did it without becoming frustrated in the process because it was easy for them to follow and understand the directions. The fact that I ran through the first example with them was also very helpful. It is through guided inquiry that we can expose students to what real inquiry should look like, and therefore give them a basis for inquiry for when they are doing experiments on their own.

I don't think parents would have any problem in displaying their children's work on the website. As far as I know that the face of the student should not be shown, but I have to find about the work. As a matter of fact in order to comply Walden's requirement I did publish my students work and my students were happy about this. I hope I don't get into trouble.
ReplyDeleteBut now I will make sure that I take concern from the parents too. As far as I remember in the beginning of the school year all students did receive a package from the school in which they did sign about sharing their information when required. I hope this should not be a problem for the teachers.
I am glad that your students enjoyed the lesson and felt it easier to understand. I hope we use these strategies through out our career and make learning gains.
Great Job !

Wajida.
Jennifer-What did you do for your lesson?
ReplyDeleteI agree that inquiry is a "user friendly" method for our students to explore science.
I agree...its better for the students if they see an example and perhaps have a rubric too!
